This is the beginning of a recent body of work. The idea: take everyday found visuals and re- appropriate them into objects of fine art. Every day we are bombarded with imagery to the point we become completely numb to it. These objects are taken into a new context when painted on. They now become something completely different and serve a different purpose. If something is made by an artist is it considered sacred? This can still be as easily discarded as it was when it was found. We should never take anything too seriously, including imagery of ideal human form printed in advertisements in GQ, Playboy, Esquire, etc. American culture is officially a joke, and we are becoming more numb and stupid everyday, just as it was meant to be.

Here the entire page was not considers, but created a design that could be repeated in a pattern.              Inspired by a crappy couch.

This was done with the same idea except without any tedious attention. Trying to be a monkey with a marker.

Lately been practicing with creating abstract decorative designs with watercolor and gouache. The main idea of this practice is to consider the entire page or object being painted. The purpose is to exercise ideas of design, color, and composition with hardly any representation.

Self portrait continued. Gouache on paper.
Paint diluted more and therefore more layers added.
                                                            Paper got wrinkled...good
The sound of my breath leaving my mouth

                                                                        Gouache/ink

                                                     Self portrait: perpendicular lines are
                                                     opposite to animation. Freeze.
